Bonded Child Labour-An evil still existing in our Society

The most inhuman and onerous form of child exploitation is the age old practice of bonded labour in India. In this, the child is sold to the employer like a commodity for a certain period of time. The Child's labour is treated like security or collateral security and cunning rich men procure them for small sums at exorbitant interest rates.

The children who are sold as bonded labor only get a handful of coarse grain to keep them alive in return for their labor. Sometimes their period of thrall extends for a life time, and they have to simply toil hard and depend on the mercy of their owners, without any hope of release or redemption. The impoverished parents of the bonded child is usually a poor, uneducated landless laborer and the mortgagee is traditionally some big landlord, money lender or a big business man who thrives on their vulnerability to such exploitation.

So as Young Minds who strive to change the society what can we do?????


The future of a community is in the well being of its children. The above fact is beautifully expressed by Wordsworth in his famous lines “child is father of the man”. So it becomes imperative for the health of a nation to protect its children from premature labor which is hazardous to their mental, physical, educational and spiritual development needs. It is urgently required to save children from the murderous clutches of social injustice and educational deprivation, and ensure that they are given opportunities for healthy, normal and happy growth.


BUDS aims to bring this change through Education, health and Empowerment, So lets all join hands to give our voices and support to stop Child Labour.

About BUDS

BUDS foundation is a non-governmental and non-profitable charitable organization started with a noble cause of serving the needy and under privileged sections of our society. BUDS was formed in September 2008 by a group of social-minded engineers of Anna University with a purpose of bringing light and hope to the needy sections of our society.


The ultimate aim is to serve people, staying united, with best efforts from every individual in the group. As educated Youth, we can show our strength by contributing to our society in a meaningful manner. Our every second’s work can change someone’s destiny. It can even add a smile in someones life and gear them to achieve. Let’s be happy in heart by making others happy.

Budding Plans

• Making efforts for providing basic amenities to poorer sections of our society.
• Providing higher education to poor capable students.
• Creating awareness of various diseases,education and improving the living conditions of the poor.
• Providing medical assistance, education and care homes for physically disabled and AIDS hildren.
• Help increasing the hygiene conditions of our society.
• Establishing training centres like coaching class, tailoring, computers, typing and handicraft works for the underprivileged.
• Providing books,equipments and/or scholarships to deserving poor students.

Rural Development Program

We would like to reach out our service to the rural areas. In accordance with it, we have decided to carry out a few programs in Athangi Kavanoor and Azhinchivakkam. The villages Athangi Kavanoor and Azhinchivakkam are situated about 25 kms from Avadi.
The total population of these villages is 1066.

The villages comprise of about 276 children in the school going age. The Panchayat Union Middle School, Athangi Kavanoor has a total strength of 132 students with 74 boys and 58 girls. The school provides education upto Std VIII. This is the only school in this village. Therefore students have to seek schools far away from the village in order to continue their secondary education. Now we have planned to conduct an education program for the children of Athangi Kavanoor starting from 1st of November, 2008.

The other programs we have planned to do for the villagers are
* A general medical camp
* An awareness program
* A Tailoring program
*A handicraft program
