We are happy to announce the programmes that are to be started in 2010.
The programmes are focussed towards education as well as empowerment.
*SPOKEN ENGLISH COURSE
This course is due to be started in the village of Athangi Kavanur. We are aiming to conduct english classes for the school students during weekends. The classes will be more interactive rather than lectures of grammar. We would work to kindle the interest of the students. Those interested in such activities can contact us and give in your suggestions.
* SELF EMPLOYMENT Program
This program is aimed at exposing the people to small scale work like handicraft or paper bag making. This would help them to earn an income for the products produced by them. BUDS Foundation is looking forward to provide training classes for the people in a specific trade. If you have any suggestions. do inform us.

Tailoring Program
Hi friends, Happy news once again...:-)
The tailoring Program which we conducted in the village of Athangi Kavanur ,Thiruvallur has turned out to be a job provider for many of the participants. And the highlight of the program is that 2 of the participants excelled so well that they are now working as trainers for tailoring at several centres.
Actually the tailoring Program was a combined effort of BUDS foundation and the Self Help Group functioning at the village. We gave the participants, a completion certificate once their skill was tested. Now about 80% of them are employed in Export companies near Thiruvallur district. We are happy for those successful people.
We hope to introduce many such training Programs so that the people benefit the most.

Chandran's Heart treatment
Hi friends!!! :)
It feels great to inform all of You that We have reached out our help in assisting Chandran, a 12 year old boy from the Village of Athangi Kavanoor. Chandran was suffering from an heart ailment. Chandran's family had asked for our help to arrange for his surgery (as insisted by the doctors who had been consulted earlier). We the members of BUDS foundation along with the support from Mr.C.Sylendra Babu IPS , got an appointment with Dr.K.M.Cherian , the well known heart specialist. After proper medical examination , Dr.K.M.Cherian reported the boy to have a mild mitral valve regurgitation and no surgical treatment was needed. But he had asked the boy to have a medical checkup once in a year for sure. Now the Boy's family is totally relieved and they are convinved with the Boy's medical condition.Earlier they were really worried over Chandran's health and feared to arrange for an operation. BUDS Foundation will assist Chandran in future incase he needed any medical assistance.

Bonded Child Labour-An evil still existing in our Society
The most inhuman and onerous form of child exploitation is the age old practice of bonded labour in India. In this, the child is sold to the employer like a commodity for a certain period of time. The Child's labour is treated like security or collateral security and cunning rich men procure them for small sums at exorbitant interest rates.
The children who are sold as bonded labor only get a handful of coarse grain to keep them alive in return for their labor. Sometimes their period of thrall extends for a life time, and they have to simply toil hard and depend on the mercy of their owners, without any hope of release or redemption. The impoverished parents of the bonded child is usually a poor, uneducated landless laborer and the mortgagee is traditionally some big landlord, money lender or a big business man who thrives on their vulnerability to such exploitation.
So as Young Minds who strive to change the society what can we do?????
The future of a community is in the well being of its children. The above fact is beautifully expressed by Wordsworth in his famous lines “child is father of the man”. So it becomes imperative for the health of a nation to protect its children from premature labor which is hazardous to their mental, physical, educational and spiritual development needs. It is urgently required to save children from the murderous clutches of social injustice and educational deprivation, and ensure that they are given opportunities for healthy, normal and happy growth.
BUDS aims to bring this change through Education, health and Empowerment, So lets all join hands to give our voices and support to stop Child Labour.
